Driver Requirements
Can I rent a car if I'm under 25 or over 70?
Yes, absolutely.
However, requirements may vary depending on the car supplier and destination country. The car supplier may also have a minimum age limit of 21 years old for rentals.
Can I rent a car with a provisional driving licence?
No, unfortunately the car rental suppliers we are working with do not accept provisional driving licences.
You must hold a full driving licence to hire a car.
Is it sufficient to present a copy of my driving licence?
Unfortunately, a copy of your licence will not be accepted at the rental desk. You will need to present the original document at pick-up.
If your licence was lost or stolen and you have already booked a car rental through us, we recommend that you either request a name change on the reservation to someone traveling with you, or cancel the reservation if this is not an option. If you change the name of the main driver, the new driver will need to present all the mandatory documents in their own name at the rental desk.
If you need to change the name urgently with less than 72 hours, please contact us through our live chat option and we will try to assist you straight away.
Do I need an international driving licence?
We recommend that you check the licence requirements for your specific booking to determine whether you will require an international driving licence or not.
If your licence is not printed in the Latin alphabet (i.e. Arabic, Greek, Russian) you will almost always need an international driving licence.
If an international driving licence is required for your booking, you will also be required to bring your domestic licence with you to present it along with your international driving licence.
What do I need to pick up the car?
The following may need to be presented at the rental desk:
1. Credit card with enough funds to cover the excess (debit cards usually not accepted).
2. The main driver’s original licence, physical licence, held for a minimum of one year (some suppliers may require longer, please check your terms and conditions).
3. Additional photo ID.
4. Your digital car hire voucher.
5. Any other documentation specified on your booking voucher.
There might be some differences in documentation required based on where you are renting and which supplier you are renting with. Make sure to check your rental conditions for your specific rental. All required documentation needs to be in the main driver’s name.
